Velverd Gerald Bailey, 73, of Center, passed away Monday, September 21, 2009 at Nacogdoches Medical Center. He was born October 29, 1935 in Freeport to Newie Bailey & Ruby Strother Bailey. Mr. Bailey was of the Baptist Faith.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm, Wednesday, September 23rd at Watson & Sons Funeral Home in Center. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm, Thursday, September 24th at Watson & Sons Chapel with Bro. Ed McRae officiating. Interment will follow at Martinsville Cemetery in Nacogdoches County.

Pallbearers will be Jody Anderson, Nathan Anderson, Murphy McWhirter, Perry Bailey, Danny McLean, and Pat McWhirter. Honorary pallbearers will be Nicholas Bailey, Gerald P. Bailey and Daniel McWhirter.
