Robbie Wheeler went to the Lord on August 10, 2026, at the young age of 66, following a long battle with ALS. She was born on February 3, 1960, in Cleveland, Texas, and spent several years residing in Tenaha before making her final home in Center, Texas, with her loving husband, Douglas Wheeler. A dedicated worker, Robbie began her career with the USPS as a rural mail carrier in December 1985, initially starting as a substitute before becoming a full-time carrier in July 1993. She continued to serve her community until her retirement in March 2013, due to disability.
Robbie was preceded in death by her mother, Geneva Reeves, in 1992, and her father, Robert O. Reeves, in 2013. She is survived by her husband, Douglas Wheeler; her son, Matthew Burns, and his wife Jill of Euless, Texas; grandsons, Luke and Jake Burns; her brother, Toby Reeves, and his wife Ja of Henderson, Texas; her stepmother, Jean Reeves, and family of Center, Texas; and her ex-husband, Bob Burns, of the Gilmer area.
Robbie was a woman of many passions. She loved to spend time with her grandsons, reading, cooking, and engaging in crafts such as wood burning plaques, puzzles, and sewing. She always found joy in being busy with various activities. Her motto, “Do unto others as you would have others do unto you,” reflected her kind and generous spirit. Despite the challenges presented by her various autoimmune diseases and a recent diagnosis of ALS, Robbie maintained a positive attitude, bolstered by the love and support of her family and friends. Robbie will be remembered as a hard worker and a friend to all, always ready to lend a helping hand to those in need. She leaves behind cherished memories for her family and a legacy of love and compassion.
Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Friday, August 14, 2026, at Watson & Sons Funeral Home in Center. Graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, August 15, 2026, at Enterprise Cemetery in Tenaha, Texas, on County Road 4323, off of FM 2026.
