Richard Leroy Gilbert, Sr. , 83, of Lufkin, passed away Thursday, May 29, 2025, in Lufkin.

Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Sunday, June 1, 2025, at Watson & Sons Funeral Home in Center.  Graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Monday, June 2, 2025, at Mt. Olive Cemetery in Timpson Levi Green officiating.

Mr. Gilbert was born June 13, 1941, in Washington.  He was a tough worker, and he loved classic cars and trucks.

He is survived by his wife, Martha Gilbert; son, Ronald Miller; grandchildren, Valerie Gilbert, J.R. Gilbert, David Miller, and Jennifer Miller; great grandchildren, Roy Gilbert, Christopher Gilbert, Cameron Miller, and Altas Miller; and sisters, Beverly Starr, Nancy Gunther, and Rose Roland Davey.

Preceded in death by his son, Richard Gilbert, Jr.; parents, Joseph Richard Gilbert, Sr. and Ester Marie Griffith Gilbert; and brother, Joseph Richard Gilbert, Jr.

Pallbearers will be Ronald Miller, James Hughes Jr., James Hughes Sr., Kamden Whittington, Ricky Hinson, and J.R. Gilbert.
