Relda "Jane" Busby, 89, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Tuesday March 13, 2012 at her daughter's home in Corsicana, TX.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, March 15, 2012, at Watson & Sons Funeral Home in Center, TX
Funeral Service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, March 16, 2012, at First Baptist Church in Center, Texas, with Brother Carl Smith officiating and grandsons serving as pallbearers. Interment will follow at Oaklawn Memorial Park.
Relda Jane was born on November 11, 1922 to Birt Knight & Mary Huffman Marks in Gurdon, AR. She was married to Richard Howard Busby, Sr. and they moved to Center in 1959. They were married for 64 years and had three daughters and one son. As an active member of First Baptist Church in Center for 50 years, Jane taught the Martha Class for many years and served on Bereavement and Prayer Committees. In earlier years she was a member of the Center Garden Club. She enjoyed working in her home for her family, helping others in need, and working alongside her husband while they built a lake home on Toledo Bend for the family and remodeled a historical home in Shelbyville, TX. In her last years Jane faithfully attended Calvary Worship in Corsicana while living with her daughter, Joyce & Family.
Jane was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Richard H. Busby, Sr., brothers, James Raymond Marks, Rea Dod Marks and sisters, Ardell Marks McDonald, and Anna Glendyne Marks Beard.
Survivors include her children and their spouses, Kathleen Smith & husband Howard, Jr. of Lewisville, TX, Jacquilyn Cochran and husband Gregg of Round Rock, TX, Richard Howard Busby, Jr. and wife Jolene of Center, TX, and Joyce Cawthorn and her husband Roy of Corsicana, TX. She is survived by 9 grandchildren, Howard G. Smith, III, of Lewisville, TX, Ryan McClain of Denver, CO, Mary Bracken & husband Ben of Midland, TX, Jennifer Windham & husband Jonathan, of Center, TX, Byron "Trey" McDonald, of Corsicana, TX, Richard H. Busby, III of Haltom City, TX, Timothy Yancy, Thomas Cawthorn, and Austin Yancy of Corsicana, TX. Great grandchildren include Nicholas Windham, Rhiannon Windham, and Christopher McDonald.
Jane was a faithful witness for Jesus Christ to her family and the world. Jane cherished Ms Mary Terry and her best friend Velma McElroy.
The family wants to express its heartfelt thanks to Cedar Lake Hospice in Corsicana for their special care and Calvary Worship for their loving support.
