OB Hughes, 78, of Center, died peacefully at his home on Tuesday, March 17, 2009, after a valiant battle with cancer. He was born October 12, 1930 in the Short Community of Shelby County to Druie Hughes and Myrtie Monroe Hughes. OB served in the US Army, followed by a 37 year career with Mobil Pipeline. After retiring to his family place in Center, he worked for Martin Resources until the time of his death.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm, Thursday, March 19th at Watson & Sons Funeral Home in Center. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm, Friday, March 20th at the First Baptist Church in Center, with Rev. Robert Morris and Rev. Michael Hale officiating. Interment will follow at Oaklawn Memorial Park in Center.
