Norman James "Jim" Samford, Jr. passed away on Friday, January 13, 2012 in Kirbyville. He was born in Center on May 19, 1933 to Norman James Samford, Sr. and Mary Outlaw Samford. In 1952, Mr. Samford enlisted in the United States Coast Guard Active Reserves. He was later employed by Gulf Plant, where he retired after many years of service. After retirement, Mr. Samford loved to spend his time farming, ranching, and riding horses. He was a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church in Center.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Sunday, January 15, 2012 at Watson & Sons Funeral Home in Center. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm on Monday, January 16, 2012 at Watson & Sons Chapel with Bro. Gordon Vaughn, Howard Jarvis and Michael Nethery officiating. A Military Honors Graveside service will follow at Sand Hill Cemetery under the direction of VFW Post #8904.

Pallbearers will be Erik Peveto, Michael Peveto, Nicholas Peveto, Wayne Bailey, Enrique Chapa, Tom Myers and Corby Myers.
