Obituary

Nolen Cogswell , 90, of Joaquin, passed away Saturday, October 18, 2014 at his residence.

Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Monday, October 20, 2014 at Watson & Sons Funeral Home in Center. Funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, October 21, 2014 at Watson & Sons Chapel with Bro. D.J. Dickerson officiating. Interment will follow at Oaklawn Memorial Park in Center.

Nolen Cogswell was born November 10, 1923, to the late Aquila Levi Cogswell and Mary Elizabeth Day. He graduated from Center High School in 1942. Nolen did not qualify for military service, but served his country during World War II by working in the shipyards in Seattle, Washington, building destroyers. This is where he met his wife of 69 years, Margaret Ellen Hagenlock, of Seneca, South Dakota. They were married in October 1945 and moved to Texas where they lived and reared their family. Nolen and Ellen operated a grocery store in Joaquin for many years until Nolen was appointed Post Master in the Joaquin Post Office. After retirement, he continued raising cattle and began his love of gardening. He was a member of the Joaquin Church of Christ. He will always be remembered for his friendly and outgoing personality.

Nolen is preceded in death by his parents and a great-granddaughter, Stevie Leigh Franks.

Pallbearers will be Josh Beasley, Dane Cogswell, Josh Kays, Colby Franks, Matt Jones and Brannon Lowe. Honorary pallbearers will be Rodney Dean and Joe Hughes.
