Maxine W. Oswalt's life on earth ended as her journey in Heaven began on February 22, 2012 at the age of 74. She was born on April 9, 1937 in Willoughby Town, Shelby County, Texas to Henry Clayton and Tressie Alaf Byrd Willoughby. Maxine was preceded in death by her husband Dennis O. Oswalt and her parents Henry and Tressie Willoughby, a brother Alvis (Buddy) Willoughby and a sister Rosa Mae W Jordan King. She leaves behind sister and husband Emma (Betty) Willoughby and Charles Chambliss of Lufkin, Texas, brother Wayne Willoughby of San Augustine, Texas, brother-in-law and wife Danny and June Oswalt of Henderson, Texas, brother-in-law and wife CC and Marylou Permenter of Whitney, Texas and special cousin Lexa Willoughby Whitton of Timpson, Texas. She is survived by numerous nieces and nephews, first, second and third generations. And other family and friends. Maxine loved and cherished all her family.
She was a member of Center Missionary Baptist Church. Maxine was retired after many years of service at WR Boyd Construction in Center, Texas. She lived in Center until the death of Dennis when she moved to Lufkin, Texas. She resided at the Pinecrest Retirement Community in Lufkin.
Visitation will be held from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm, Thursday, February 23, 2012 at Watson & Sons Funeral Home in Center. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm, Friday, February 24, 2012 at Watson & Sons Chapel with Bro. Pat Windham and Bro. Doug Stone officiating. Interment will follow at Oaklawn Memorial Park in Center.
Pallbearers will be Clayton Wright, Allen Willoughby, Tony Paddie, Cory Penick, Robert Lee Raines and Kenneth E. Willoughby. Honorary pallbearers will be Robert Jordan, Larry Cosby, Shane Willoughby, Joey Oswalt, Michael Wayne Willoughby and Charles Andrew Raines.
