Marlin W. (Pete) Bailey , 76, of Shelbyville, passed away Wednesday, July 26, 2023, in Shelbyville.

Graveside service will be held at 4:00 p.m., Saturday, July 29, 2023, at Liberty Hill Cemetery in San Augustine County.

Born December 17, 1946, Pete is the son of Marlin Eugene Bailey and Cecil Lois Long Bailey.  He provided for his family by driving a truck for many years.  Pete loved all kinds of animals, raised chickens, pigs, and goats, and also managed to become a master gardener.  He was a wonderful dad to his children.  Pete was a member of Mt. Calvary Baptist Church in Shelbyville.

He is survived by his children, Carl Wayne Bailey and wife Brenda, Misty McDaniel and husband Brad, Jeannee M. Conway and husband Carey, Curtis Ray Bailey and wife Emmie, and Justin Taylor Bailey and wife Kaitlyn; 18 grandchildren; and 11 great grandchildren.

Preceded in death by his wife, Judy Faye Parker Bailey; daughter, Belinda Boren; grandson, Colby Bailey; parents, Eugene Bailey and Cecil Lois Long Bailey; brother, James Earl Bailey; and sister, Ima Jean Hawkins.

Pallbearers will be Russell McLaughin, Matt McLaughin, Bailey McLaughin, Andy McLaughin, Justin Bailey, and Ryan Bailey.
