Maelinda Swanzy , 86, of Center, passed away Thursday, January 29, 2026, in Center.

Funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, February 14, 2026, at Watson & Sons Funeral Home in Center with visitation beginning at 11:00 a.m.  Bro. Porter Brewer will officiate.  Interment will follow at Shelbyville Cemetery in Shelbyville.

Born June 17, 1939, Maelinda is the daughter of Thomas Shepherd and Maudelle Morgan Shepherd.  She loved genealogy.  Maelinda attended First Baptist Church in Center and First Methodist Church in Center.

She is survived by her sons, Berry Morgan Chamness, Thomas Kelly Chamness and wife Lisa, and Matthew Shepherd Chamness; and grandchildren, Marisa Rose Chamness and husband Louis Perkins, Justin Thomas Chamness, Courtney Megan Moore and husband Clayton, Nicholas Matthew Chamness, and Reilley Alexa Chamness.

Preceded in death by her parents, Thomas Shepherd and Maudelle Morgan Shepherd; husband, David Paul Swanzy; and brothers, Marvin Shepherd and Thomas Alga Shepherd.

Pallbearers will be Berry Morgan Chamness, Thomas Kelly Chamness, Matthew Shepherd Chamness, Nicholas Matthew Chamness, Steve Oates, and Tim Verner.  Honorary pallbearers will be William Morgan, Jody Ferrell, Luke Motley, Michael Meeks, Dirk Palmer, Kyle Parmer, Tony Sanders, and Larry Risinger.
