Lowman Russell , 85, of Nacogdoches, passed away Monday, July 14, 2025, in Nacogdoches.
Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, July 17, 2025, at Watson & Sons Funeral Home in Center. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, July 18, 2025, at White Rock Missionary Baptist Church in Shelby County with Bro. Brandon Jones officiating, assisted by Bro. Greg Sutis. Interment will follow at White Rock Cemetery in Shelby County.
Born December 8, 1939, in Shelby County, Lowman is the son of Nathan Thomas Russell and Evelyn Sarah Fancher Russell. He served in the United States Navy. Lowman was a member of Sam Houston Masonic Lodge and White Rock Missionary Baptist Church, where he taught the teen Sunday school class.
He is survived by his wife, Deorthy Murray Long Russell of Nacogdoches; daughters, Kelli Mathews of Center and Mica Matlock of Cushing; grandchildren, Collin Mathews of Center and Taighen Mathews May of Center; great grandson, Vaughn Murray Mathews; two stepchildren, Kimberly Honeywell and Penny Scarborough; step-grandchildren, Emily Honeywell Hankins, Trista Honeywell, Christopher Schroeder, Nikki Capers, Lindsey Kent, and Kelby Howell; brother, Haron Russell and wife Pat of Denning; sister, Sharon and husband Bobby Spells of Diboll; special nephew, Jody Russell; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Preceded in death by his parents, Nathan Thomas Russell and Evelyn Sarah Fancher Russell; and step-grandson, Ryan McBride.
