Linda Joyce Tyre Stroope , 80, of Shelbyville, passed away Friday, February 3, 2023, in Shelbyville.
Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Sunday, February 5, 2023, at Watson & Sons Funeral Home in Center. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, February 6, 2023, at Watson & Sons Chapel with Bro. Gordon Vaughn officiating. Interment will follow at Oaklawn Memorial Park in Center.
Born November 30, 1942, in Dallas, Linda is the daughter of James E. Tyre and Bessie Johnston Tyre. She loved her family and was proud of the Tyre clan. Linda was always ready to tell a good story and boasted of them often. Family, friends, and neighbors knew she loved a good party and may have been "fashionably late", but once she arrived, that's when the fun started. Linda loved big and was good at everything she did. Whether it was horses, animals, the care of her home, or her beautiful flowers and yard (which she was famous for), Linda put her all in it. Linda was a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church in Center.
She is survived by her son, Ray Stroope Jr. and wife Beth of Shelbyville; grandchildren, Callie Cash and husband John of Shelbyville and Russell Stroope of Carthage; great grandchildren, Lindsey Martinez and husband Abe of Waxahachie, Kacee Cash of Waxahachie, Kylie Cash of Shelbyville, Bradley Jamison of Shelbyville, Caleb Jamison of Shelbyville, Isabell Stroope of Carthage, and Evlyn Stroope of Carthage; great great grandchildren, Kingston Martinez of Waxahachie; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by husband, Ray Stroope Sr.; parents, James E. Tyre and Bessie Johnston Tyre; sister, Peggy Chote; brothers, James Tyre and Charles Tyre; sisters-in-law, Linda Jacque Tyre, Mary Tyre, and Carolyn Stroope; and brothers-in-law, Richard Chote and Tommy Stroope.
Pallbearers will be John Cash, Russell Stroope, Bradley Jamison, Caleb Jamison, Mark Green, and Kenneth Jordan.
