Karen Sue
Honea
Apr 2, 1968 — May 27, 2022
Karen Sue Honea , loving partner, mother and sister passed away at the age of 54 in Center, Texas.
Graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, June 1, 2022, at Bennett Chapel Cemetery in Shelby County with visitation beginning at 9:00 a.m. at Watson & Sons Funeral Home in Center.
She was born on April 2, 1968 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to George and Loydean Honea. Karen started working as a cashier at CVS Pharmacy in OKC, OK and continued customer service throughout her high school years. Upon graduation, she married, accepted transfer with CVS Pharmacy and moved to Orange, Texas where she raised her two sons: Aaron and Daron Wilburn.
After several years she dedicated herself to drive a school bus for the Little Cypress LSD Program and later for Shelbyville Public Schools.
After a short break she began working for the Shelbyville Grocery store. She was a cashier, cook, friend and mentor to so many. She loved to meet new people and visit with everyone on a daily basis.
During her last seven years, she divorced and met her partner, Ricky Cartwright. They loved to go hunting, fishing and tending to the family cows. Karen grew very fond of her new bull calf, she named "Bob", assisting in his bottle feeding daily. Karen was a hard worker and always busy doing something – cooking, cleaning, coloring, or just rearranging her furniture every other day. She loved to spend time on her laptop, paint by numbers and word search puzzles.
She enjoyed spending time with family and friends and always willing to help in any way she can. All children loved coming to visit Karen, ' cause you always had candy bags ready and waiting.
During her battle with cancer, she shared a very special bond with her mother, Loydean . Mom would come and assist Karen in her daily care routines and during her sickness through all the chemo treatments. They shared, supported and encouraged each other every day, walking hand in hand fighting and praying for each other every day.
Karen had a beautiful and kind, loving, compassionate heart, and she stayed strong to the end.
Karen is preceded in death by her parents, George and Loydean Honea. She leaves behind to cherish her memory: her partner, Ricky Cartwright, of the home in Shelbyville; two sons: Aaron Wilburn and wife Claire of Shelbyville, TX and Daron Wilburn and wife Michelle of Shelbyville, TX; one brother: Terry Allen Honea, Sr. of Sayre, Oklahoma; one sister: LaDonna Lloyd of Edmond, Oklahoma; 2 grandchildren: Kylie Elizabeth Wilburn and Kevin Theodore Wilburn; numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and many friends.
We will forever Remember our "Miss Karen".
