John Henry Nichols , 84, of Center, passed away Friday, July 25, 2025, in Shreveport, Louisiana.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Monday, July 28, 2025, at Watson & Sons Funeral Home in Center. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, July 29, 2025, at Watson & Sons Chapel with Bro. Chuck Horton and Bro. Donald Earl Windham officiating. Interment will follow at West Hamilton Cemetery in Shelby County.
Born June 21, 1941, in Shelbyville, John is the son of George Allen Nichols and Willie Peace Nichols. In 1959, he married the love of his life, Bobbie Sue Windham. The two were married for sixty-two years. John enjoyed camping, catfishing, planting Bobbie Sue's rose bushes, hunting, piddling, and working in the yard. Above all, he loved spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He is survived by his children, Freeman Nichols, Mike Nichols and wife Beth, and Leslie and husband Travis Schulz; grandchildren, Megan and husband Marcus Adkinson, Derek Nichols and wife Jenny, Cody Nichols and wife Holly, Ashley and husband Bryant Latham, Kaley and husband Neil Pigg, Michaela Schulz, and Taylor and husband Wyatt Hairgrove; great grandchildren, Easton Latham, Kannon Latham, Deacon Anthony, Olivia Anthony, Rhett Adkinson, Shaun Adkinson, Kolton Adkinson, Cody Adkinson, Karson Adkinson, Laityn Nichols, Lorelai Nichols, Case Michael Nichols, Caroline Nichols, MaKinley Pigg, Lane Pig, Amari Schulz, and Millie Hairgrove; sisters, Bobbie Ross, Linda Risinger, and Judy Oates; and brothers-in-law, Leon Windham and Max Windham.
Preceded in death by wife, Bobbie Sue Nichols; parents, George Allen Nichols and Willie Peace Nichols; brothers, Allen (June) Nichols, William (Hooky) Nichols, and James Mural Nichols; sisters, Babe Ruth DeFriend, Dot Bailey, and LaNell (Sissy) Wilburn; and mother-in-law, Artie B. Windham.
Pallbearers will be Derek Nichols, Marcus Adkinson, Cody Nichols, Bryant Latham, Deacon Anthony, and Easton Latham.
