Joe W. Samford
, 89, of College Station, passed away January 2, 2014 at St. Joseph's Hospital in Bryan, Texas. He was born June 3, 1924 in Center, Texas. He was the only son of the late Eli and Velma Samford. He served this great country with honor and bravery in the Second World War as a member of the 10th Mountain Division. He was a man of great kindness and strength, a loyal and loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 64 years, Mary Quisenberry Samford.
He is survived by his son, Donald; daughter-in-law, Sandra Burleson Samford; his granddaughter, Amanda Samford Holmes, her husband Kevin and their three children, Mary, Gabriel and Anna Marie. He is also survived by a sister-in-law, Glenda Sue Conner and husband, Jerry, as well as a host of devoted nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m., Saturday, January 4, 2014 at Watson & Sons Funeral Home in Center. Graveside service will follow at 3:00 p.m. at Mt. Herman Cemetery in Center with Tim Perkins officiating.
