Jim Coulter, 87, of Joaquin, passed away Thursday, December 21, 2023, in Shreveport, Louisiana.
Graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, December 23, 2023, at Oaklawn Cemetery in Center with Bro. Paul Silvey officiating.
Born July 15, 1936, in Center, Jim was the son of Jack Coulter and Jimmie Hughes Coulter. In 1955, Jim graduated from Joaquin High School. Following high school, he went to play football at Kilgore College. Shortly after, he joined the U.S. Marine Corps and moved to San Diego, California. In 1956, he married his wife Barbara. After completing his service with the Marines, he returned to Joaquin to start a family where he worked as a welder in the oilfield. After many years working in the oilfield, he eventually retired. He was an Eagle Scout and a Past Master of Joaquin Masonic Lodge #856. He was a member of Joaquin Methodist Church. His favorite pastimes were riding around town visiting and joking. He was known for his witty personality and loved making people laugh. He would frequent Dean's Hardware, Worsham's Grocery, and Ram House. He loved watching football, finding something to work on in his shop, and helping others with various projects. He loved spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by parents, Jack and Jimmie Coulter; sister, Martha Anderson; and son-in-law, Shawn Seymour.
Cole Smith, Rick Chumley, Hunter Seymour, Dakota Seymour, Scooter Gray, and Jason Gray will be pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Rodney Dean, Phil Worsham, Sam Watts, and Tommy Gray.
