Obituary

Jerry Williams , born August 9, 1940, in Lafayette, Louisiana, died on August 9, 2020, at his home, surrounded by his family.  He died after a long battle with Lewy Body Dementia with Parkinsonism.

Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, August 12, 2020, at Watson & Sons Funeral Home in Center with visitation one hour prior.  Mike Scrimpshire will officiate.  Interment will follow at Oaklawn Memorial Park in Center.

Mr. Williams was a loving husband and grandfather.  He was a member of Reel Road Church of Christ in Longview.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Sue Smith Williams of Longview; son, Jerry Williams Jr. of Mesquite; daughter, Angelia Scrimpshire and husband Mike of Longview; grandchildren, Mallory Williams and husband Dean of Tyler, Alyssa Best and husband Joel of College Station, Michaela Ruggiero and husband Antonio of McKinney; great grandchildren, Avery Williams of Tyler and Collier Williams of Tyler; sister, Pearl Comeaux and husband Gerald of Coteau, Louisiana; cousin, Mary Elizabeth Johnson of Beaumont; and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Preceded in death by parents, Lewis H. "Sweet" Williams and Amanda Williams; birth mother, Lillian Laviolette; sister, Margaret Perry; brother, Earl Beers; aunt, Leo Rushing; and cousin, Margaret Ann Smith.

Pallbearers will be Leroy Armstrong, Roy Grogins, Pete Saccoccio, Dean Williams, Joel Best, and Antonio Ruggiero.  Honorary pallbearers will be Bo Harrel and Allen Penick.

A special thanks to Texas Home Health Hospice, Katie, Jody, Verlisha, and Barbara.
