Jay Ballard , 84, of Joaquin, passed away Sunday, November 22, 2020, in Carthage.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, November 24, 2020, at Watson & Sons Funeral Home in Center. Graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, November 25, 2020, at Shepherd Hill Cemetery in Willis.

Born June 11, 1936, in San Augustine County, Jay is the son of the late Whit Ballard and Florence Warr Ballard. He was of the Catholic faith.

Jay is survived by his wife, Anna Ballard of Joaquin; sons, Jayson Ballard of Timpson, James Lucher and wife Gloria of New Waverly; grandson, Steven Lucher and wife Kerrie; brother, Stacy Ballard of Joaquin; sister, Julaney Campbell and husband Kenneth of Burleson; and a host of other friends and relatives.

Preceded in death by his grandson, Jason Lucher; parents, Whit Ballard and Florence Warr Ballard; brothers, Jimmy Ray Ballard and Lacy Coy Ballard; sister-in-law, Jean Ballard.
