Hugh L. "Sonny" Swanzy, 79, of the Appleby Community, passed away Saturday, April 14, 2012 at his residence. He was born July 10, 1932 in Pineland to William Roger Swanzy and Mary Addie Garrett Swanzy. Mr. Swanzy served in the U. S. Air Force where he was stationed in Japan and worked as an airplane mechanic. He was of the Baptist Faith.

Visitation will be held from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Tuesday, April 17, 2012 at Watson & Sons Funeral Home in Center. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, April 18, 2012 at Watson & Sons Chapel with Bro. Shannon Arrington and Bro. Bob Harbuck officiating. Interment will follow at the Truitt Cemetery in Shelby County.

Pallbearers for Mr. Swanzy will be his grandsons, Lee Allen, Justin Allen, William Brandenburg, Brett Swanzy, Krystopher Davenport and Jessy Davenport.
