Henry Leroy Wilburn , 64, of Patroon, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 3, 2014 after fighting the good fight against cancer.

Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Friday, September 5, 2014 at Watson & Sons Funeral Home in Center. Funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, September 6, 2014 at Watson & Sons Chapel with Bro. Billy Windham, Bro. Don Windham and Bro. Lamar Denby, Jr. officiating. Interment will follow at Strong Cemetery in Huxley.

Leroy was born Sept. 29, 1949 in Orange, TX to Henry L. and Grace Wilburn. He retired as a truck driver for Tyson Foods after 26 years of employment. He accepted Jesus Christ as his savior at the age of 26 and was baptized by Bro. Fred Stewart. Leroy was liked by all who knew him and will be remembered for his sense of humor and joyful personality. He was well-known for his ability to do any mechanical work that needed to be done and for being a Ford fanatic. In his spare time, he rebuilt and remodeled a 1966 Ford F-100 twice and a 1966 Ford Mustang, painting them both his favorite color, blue. He enjoyed trot-line fishing and was known to bring in 70 and 80 pound catfish on his week-long camping trips with the family. A camping trip for him meant no running water, electricity or civilization for miles around. In his earlier years, he also enjoyed raccoon hunting and won several trophies with his hunting dogs.

He was preceded in death by his father, Henry L. Wilburn.

He is survived by his mother, Grace Wilburn of Patroon; children, Brandi Emanis and husband, Scott, of Patroon, Shannon Wilburn and wife, Tera, of Sexton, Katie Smith and husband, Jonathan, of Patroon; grandchildren, Jessie Rose, Ashton Battles, Delaney Emanis, Jaiden Wilburn, Max Emanis, Raylee Wilburn, Kaylin Miller, Keelan Wilburn; siblings, Bernice Graham and husband, Hugh, of Lufkin, Donice Wilburn and wife, Alice, of Nacogdoches; and many friends and extended family members.
