Gwen Ervin LaFitte , 90, of Huxley, passed away Thursday, December 5, 2019, in Huxley.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., Sunday, December 8, 2019, at Watson & Sons Funeral Home in Center. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, December 9, 2019, at Watson & Sons Chapel with Rev. Gordon Vaughn and Rev. Michael McArthur officiating. Interment will follow at Wimberly Cemetery in Huxley.

Ms. LaFitte was born December 3, 1929, in Shelby County, to Curtis Ervin and Cliffie Hooper Ervin. She was a member of Lydia Missionary Baptist Church for 75 years.

She is survived by her daughter, Beverly Bohannon of Huxley; grandchildren, Chris Cox and wife Ginger of Frisco, Samuel Cox and wife Heidi of Pflugerville, and Paige Bohannon of Barcelona, Spain; great grandchildren, Mackenzie Cox, Carson Cox, Katie Cox, Chloe Cox, and Lucas Cox; son-in-law, Robert Cox of Huxley; sisters-in- law, Frances Ervin of Bridge City and Dorothy LaFitte of El Paso; nieces, Sherryl Brown of Colmesneil and Annette Ervin of Houston; nephews, Shane Ervin of Bridge City and Scott Ervin of Atlanta, Georgia.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Sam LaFitte Jr.; daughter, Rhonda LaFitte Cox; parents, Curtis Ervin and Cliffie Hooper Ervin; and brother, Edward C. Ervin.

Pallbearers will be Chris Cox, Samuel Cox, Robert Cox, Buddy Kay, Keith Oswalt, and Sammy O'Rear. Honorary pallbearers will be Bert Furlow, Billy Jack Corbell, and Larry Vaughn.
