George Massey Smith, Jr. , 86, of Shelbyville, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 14, 2025, in Shelbyville, surrounded by family.

Graveside memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, November 20, 2025, at Oaklawn Memorial Park in Center with Rev. Sherry Harding officiating.  A visitation will be held prior to the service at Watson & Sons Funeral Home in Center, beginning at 1:00 p.m.

Born December 20, 1938, in Center, George is the son of George Massey Smith, Sr. and Ruby Sanders Smith.  An avid sportsman, George found joy in fishing, hunting, and being outdoors.  He was a member of First Christian Church in Center.

He is survived by his wife, Sarah Smith; children, Deborah and husband Barry Earnest Gumienny, Sandra Smith, and Robert Christopher Smith; five grandchildren; and four great grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his son, George Massey, III; parents, George Massey Smith, Sr. and Ruby Sanders Smith; and sisters, Betty Sue Smith and Shirley Reynolds.
