Services for
Mrs. Esther A. Fields
will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, September 24, 2012 at Watson and Sons Funeral Home, 1554 Highway 7 East, Center, TX 75935 with Reverend Gary Oglesby officiating.
Graveside services will follow at Sardis Cemetery on FM 414 in the Sardis Community.
Visitation will be at the funeral home from 4:00 - 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 23, 2012.
Mama Fields went to join her Savior at age 95 on September 20, 2012, while at East Texas Hospice in Tyler, TX.
Esther Allen Cox Fields was born Jan. 8, 1917 in the Campti Community in Shelby County, TX.
Her parents were Buddie A. Cox and Susie Sumner Cox.
She lived on the family farm and attended Campti Community schools.
After marriage to Ralph A. Fields, Esther lived in Shelby County, TX, Humble, TX, East Columbia, TX, Orange, TX and then moved to Bullard, TX where she resided at Emerald Bay community.
Over the years she was an active member of a number of churches and most recently at Rose Heights Church in Tyler, Grace Chapel Assembly of God in Tyler, and Community Church in Orange, TX.
While living in Orange, she was manager of a bakery for a number of years.
Prior to that, she had a full time job as a wonderful wife, mother and homemaker.
Esther was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Ralph A. Fields, her parents, Buddie and Susie Cox, and a brother, Fred E. Cox.
She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Helen and Ordean Williams, Emerald Bay; a son and daughter-in-law, Thomas and Jo Ann Fields, Bullard; 5 grandchildren, Deana Williams, Austin, John Fields and wife Heather, Cedarburg, Wisconsin, Michele Adams and husband Kyle, Baytown, Susan Gunter and husband Tracy, Flint, James Fields and wife Cathy, Flower Mound; 8 great-grandchildren, Lauren Cox and husband Jared, Megan Adams, Trevor Gunter, Annaleah Fields, Courtney Gunter, Jake Fields, Jackson Fields, and Sam Fields; a sister, Lorene White, Humble; 2 sisters-in-law, Gaye Belrose, Center and Margie Hinton, Joaquin; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Pallbearers will be Kyle Adams, John Fields, James Fields, Tracy Gunter, Trevor Gunter, Lonnie Belrose, Richard Hinton, and James White.
Honorary pallbearer will be Harold Bloodgood.
The family would like to thank the staff and caregivers at Providence Park Rehab and Skilled Nursing Facility in Tyler and Hospice of East Texas for the excellent care they provided.
