Eddie W. Mahan went to join his Lord and Savior, March 13, 2009 in a Nacogdoches hospital. He was born March 17, 1922 in Nacogdoches County to Samuel T. Mahan and Eliza Jane Oliver Mahan. Mr. Mahan was a minister, insurance adjuster, carpenter and had worked in mobile home sales. He served his country in the U. S. Army where he was an Army Ranger with the Second Indian Head Division. Eddie was a survivor of the Omaha Beach Campaign at the Normandy Invasion. He was awarded the EAME Campaign Medal with three bronze stars, a Purple Heart with one Bronze Cluster, and a Bronze Star Medal. Me. Mahan was a lifetime member of the Disabled American Veterans, Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Second Infantry (Indian Head) Division. He was a mamber of the First Baptist Church in Center and had taught Sunday School at Pine Grove Nursing Center. Pallbearers wiil be Zack Mahan, Willie Mahan, Jason Stringer, Jesse Mahan, Robert Stanfield and Jason Evans. Survivors include his wife, Christine McSwain Mahan of Center; sons; Eddie Lee Mahan and wife Letetia of Burleson, Sammy J. Mahan of Baytown, Jerry D. Mahan of Center; grandchildren; Mandy L. Evans, Matthew J. Mahan, Jesse D. Mahan, Zack N. Mahan, Will H. Mahan amd Christy L. Mahan; eight great grandchildren; daughters-in-law; Sandy Mahan of Center and Pam Mahan of Center; Sisters-in-law; Janie Johnson of Cleveland and Maxine Jernigan of Center; Brothers-in-law; Earl McSwain of Center, Bobbie McSwain and wife Connie of Irving. Preceded in death by parents, Samuel T. Mahan and Eliza Jane Oliver Mahan; three brother; Clarence Mahan, Ernest Mahan and Nathan Mahan.
