Dowell D. Youngblood, 81, of Center, passed away Friday, October 28, 2011 in Center. He was born in Shelby County on February 9, 1930 to Arthur Dee Youngblood and Cora McKenzie Youngblood. Mr. Youngblood served in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War. He was a graduate of Stephen F. Austin State University where he received his teaching degree. Mr. Youngblood was retired from the public school system. He most recently served as docent and genealogical researcher at the Shelby County Museum and Genealogical Library. Mr. Youngblood was a member of the Hurst Street Church of Christ in Center. He was a member of the Captain Jesse Amason Camp #282 of the Sons of Confederate Veterans and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #8904 in Center.
Visitation will be held from 4:00pm - 6:00pm on Sunday, October 30, 2011 at Watson & Sons Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 2:00pm on Monday, October 31, 2011 at Watson & Sons Chapel with Tim Perkins officiating. Graveside services will be held at Mt. Herman Cemetery in Shelby County under the direction of Center VFW Post #8904.
Pallbearers will be members of the Captain Jesse Amason Camp #282, Sons of Confederate Veterans.
