Curtis Vernon Murray Mathews , 55, of Center, passed away Tuesday, December 27, 2016, in Center.

His wishes were to be cremated and a private memorial service will be held at a later date.

Mr. Mathews was born April 20, 1961, in San Augustine, to Victor Murray Mathews and Wava Claire Votrout Mathews. He graduated from Center High School in 1979 and went on to earn a Business Degree from Lamar University in 1986. He was a member of Shelby County Cookers, Center Rotary and Sons of Republic of Texas. Mr. Mathews enjoyed hunting, fishing, working and spending time at the beach. Above all, he loved his family and friends.

Daughter: Taighen Michelle Mathews of Center

Wife: Kelli Eileen Mathews of Center
