Mrs. Betty jean Murphree, 79 of Center, went to be with her Lord and Savior Thursday, December 16, 2010.

She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Elwyn Murphree, her oldest son, Michael Bruce Murphree and his wife Dianne Murphree, and her parents, Revis and Madie Ryan Morton.

Mrs. "Betty" was born in Oneonta, Alabama where she met and married Elwyn Murphree. He was the love of her life and she was his. The poultry industry took Betty, Elwyn and their children to Texas in 1964, where they lived until their passing. She taught Sunday school and was an active member of Center Christian Fellowship for many years.

Visitation will be held from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm, Sunday, December 19, 2010 at Watson & Sons Funeral Home in Center. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm, Monday, December 20, 2010 at Watson & Sons Funeral Home with Rev. Coy Hicks officiating. Interment will follow at Oaklawn Memorial Park.

She is survived by:

Son, Pastor Don Carlton Murphree, and wife Cherry of Center

Daughter, Pamela Murphree Wilkes, and husband John of Birmingham, Alabama

Three Grandchildren:
Micah Murphree, Grant Murphree and Daniel Murphree

Susan Newfield of Stewart, Florida
