Betty Jean Byars, 80, of Joaquin, passed away Wednesday, August 6, 2008, at Shelby Regional Medical Center. She was born January 2, 1928 in Brownsville to Royal Allen Linn and Alda Hazel Cornelious Linn. Ms. Byars was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Mabank Chapter. She was a member of Phalba Church of Christ in Phalba, Texas.

Visitation will be held from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm, Friday, August 8 at Watson & Sons Funeral Home in Center. Funeral services will be held at 11:30 am, Saturday, August 9 at Watson & Sons Chapel with Bro. Chris Welch officiating. Interment will follow at Truitt Cemetery in Joaquin.
