Barbara Jean Cockrell Wright, 73, of Center, passed away Wednesday, July 15, 2009 at Nacogdoches Medical Center. She was born in Panola County to Elam Cockrell and Nadine Hooper Cockrell. Ms. Wright was a member of the Shelby County Historical Society, the Daughters of the Republic of Texas and the Daughters of the American Revolution. She was of the Christian faith.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm, Friday, July 17th at Watson & Sons Funeral Home in Center. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday, July 18th at First Baptist Church in Joaquin with Bro. Paul Silvey, Bro. Randy Smith, and Bro. Jody Hooper officiating. Interment will follow at Joaquin Cemetery.
