Aubrey Maurice Beckham, 89, of Joaquin, passed away Friday, November 28, 2008, at his residence. He was born January 20, 1919 in Center to William Stewart Beckham and Jencie Cook Beckham. Mr. Beckham graduated from Center High School where he was a star football player. He served as a T. Sgt in the Army Air Corps during World War II and served in Africa and Italy where he was awarded GC, Bronze Star, EAME, 12 Battle Stars, Pres. Citation, and 1 OLC Ribbon. He was a Master Mason for 65 years and served as a deacon for 68 years. He was currently a deacon at Jackson Missionary Baptist Church.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm, Saturday, November 29 at Watson & Sons Funeral Home in Center. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm, Sunday, November 30 at Watson & Sons Chapel in Center with Bro. Mike Cross and Bro. Charles Hall officiating. Interment will follow at Oaklawn Memorial Park in Center.
Pallbearers will be Buren Lowe, Wayne Swan, Bobby Garrett, Tommy Lilly, Ken Kay, and Harold Irish. Honorary Pallbearers will be members of the Masonic lodge, Willie Edwards, and Harold Green.
