Alvin “Al” Howard, 88, of Tenaha, passed away Saturday, June 13, 2026, in Center.

His wishes were to be cremated.

Born May 23, 1938, Al is the son of George Henry Howard and Maysie Von Parrott Howard. He served in the United States Navy from 1955 to 1959. Al worked as a carpenter in his uncle’s building contracting business in Las Vegas, Nevada, from 1960 until 1966. He moved his family to Floydada, Texas, where he started his own flying service. Al owned and operated Howards Flying Service for 21 years before moving to Tenaha, Texas in 1987.

He is survived by his wife, Claudine Howard of Tenaha; children, Kathy Howard Reid of Lubbock, Deanne Lynn Howard of Lubbock, Henry Paul Howard and wife Evelyn of Harker Heights, Michael Wilson and wife Peggy of Tenaha, Glenda Wilson Johnson and husband Larry of Hobbs, New Mexico, and Lea Wilson Cassell and husband Mike of Center; grandchildren, Jason (Kim) Reid of Lubbock, Aaron (Erica) Reid of Fort Worth, David Reid of Lubbock, Matt (Jenna) Reid of Lubbock, Damien Howard of Lubbock, Holly Wilson of Jackson, Colton Wilson (Nataley) of Center, Amanda (Jason) Weldy of Hobbs, New Mexico, Ty (Yadi)Johnson of Hobbs, New Mexico, Sheridan Cassell of Center, Jayton (Brayden) Scarborough of Center, Connor Cassell of Center, Melanie Milinarich of Harker Heights, Lauren Mahl of Lone Tree, Colorado, and Haley Howard; 23 great grandchildren; sister, Joann Condit of Arizona; and sisters-in-Law, Chonita Howard of California, Maxine and Raimon Collins of Logansport, Louisiana, and Marie Rascoe of Colorado.

Preceded in death by his son, Eugene Howard; parents, George Henry Howard and Maysie Von Parrott Howard; and brother, Steve Howard.
