Alton Crawford
, 86, of Shelbyville, passed away Friday, August 29, 2014 in San Augustine.
Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, September 1, 2014 at Watson & Sons Funeral Home in Center. Interment will follow at Strong Cemetery in Huxley. A visitation will be held one hour prior to funeral service.
Mr. Crawford was born July 29, 1928 in East Point, Louisiana to Frank Crawford and Lela Belle Gilbert Crawford. He grew up in North Louisiana and entered the Army near the end of WWII, serving in the Army Security Agency in Europe. Mr. Crawford enjoyed a long career as an oil and gas producer. Alton and Gay enjoyed traveling to many places across the country this work required. In later years, they were blessed to have the company of their grandchildren in their home. Even in retirement, Mr. Crawford worked hard and always liked to keep busy with his yard and many projects.
